Lake Bosumtwi is the only natural lake in Ashanti and Ghana. It is situated within an ancient impact crater that is about 10.5 kilometres in diameter. It is about 30 km south-east of Kumasi the capital of Ashanti and is a popular recreational area.
The Manhyia Palace is the seat of the Asantehene of Asanteman, as well as his official residence. It is located at Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Kingdom and Ashanti Region. The first palace is now a museum.
KOMFO ANOKYE’S SWORD SITE
The ‘unmovable’ Sword of the OKomfo Anokye remains in the grounds of the OKomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he pushed it into the ground, almost 300yrs ago. No one has been able to remove this sword from the ground.
Bonwire is located 18km on the Kumasi-Mampong Road, Bonwire is popular for Kente weaving. Kente is a colourful Ghanaian traditional fabric which is worn mostly on important occasions and celebrations.
